Faux finishing is a term to describe a wide range of decorative painting techniques.  Faux (the French word meaning fake), was originally used to describe the replication of materials such as marble and wood with paint.  It has continued to evolve to include a vast amount of other finishes for walls, furniture, floors and ceilings - all to create a customized environment, in a cost effective way, for your clients.  It’s amazing what can be done….and its pretty much limited only by one’s own imagination.

The school offers a practical, hands-on approach to teaching students many  techniques and applications in Faux Finishing  for both home and commercial interiors.  Each ten week course offers a variety of benefits to the student apprentice:

• A highly personal approach, with great attention to detail – class sizes are limited to 3 students per class to insure that each individual receives one-on-one attention and instructor feedback.
• A flexible schedule that fits into your lifestyle – instructional time is determined by the participant’s existing schedule.
• An approach that turns theory into practice – the final project of each course has the student execute course-learned techniques in their own home; a stage for the apprentice to show off their skills to family, friends, and potential clients!

About Cherril Kolesik:

Cherril has an extensive background in the industry, having owned her own successful decorative painting business for over 20 years. This is combined with her earlier experience as an art teacher in private and public schools within Fairfield County.

She has thus adopted a teaching approach that focuses on the development of each individual artist…to bring out their own special talents in a practical way which rewards them by having their own successful business.
